BRC Planning for Giro Italia on Sat 10 May

The council and BRC would appreciate it very much if all club members, friends and family can help provide a guard of honour on both sides of Harryville Bridge. The club currently have a welcome banner in place on the front of Algram’s shop at Harryville bridge and flags have been obtained courtesy of the Ballymena Council.

Here are details for Saturday 10 May – Stage 2 of the Giro Italia:

Event details
  • Roads closes 9:00 to 12:30
  • Mayor coming for photo with club on bridge at 10am
  • Caravan arrives 10:20 approx
  • Peleton arrives 11:50 approx

Instructions at bridge
  • Can members, friends and family come to Harryville Bridge. 
  • Ideally you should arrive before the road closes but if this is not possible you could come onto Railway Street via Leighinmohr Avenue
  • Please come in the current club kit and if you have extra shirts please get your friends and family to wear them
  • The club rooms will be open to safely store bikes and provide toilet facilities
  • If you come on your bike, bring walking shoes as it is a long walk from the club room to Harryville Bridge in cycling shoes!
  • Tea, coffee and snacks, and toilet facilities will be available at Physio Max, 10 Henry Street, BT42 3AH
  • Also marquee will be erected outside Algram's to provide tea, coffee and snacks so that both sides of the street are covered incase we are unable to cross during the road closure
  • Local newspapers have been briefed to come and take photos – please come looking your best, dressed in club kit with pink accessories!! Derek Dougan is definitely going to dress for the occasion, can anybody beat him
  • Wave your flags as the race comes through

Plans after Ballymena
  • A group of riders are planning to cycle to the east Antrim coast to see the race for a second time.
