Ciclisport GP A race 2014

Saturday, March 29, 2014
Mike Millar of Phoenix CC took  his first ever win when he proved best in the final sprint of the A1/A2 race  at the Ciclisport GP promoted by East Tyrone Cycling Club at The Loup near Moneymore on Saturday. The riders had six laps of a tough rolling course to complete, which gave them a distance of almost sixty miles. Conditions were wet and muddy which made the roads greasy and somewhat slippery but nevertheless the riders got on with their task.
Clifford Grant gave me a brief account of the event. "The Ballymena riders took part in the A3 event which saw the field halved by the finish. Simon Taggart and Matthew Brennan made several attacks during the race with Taggart and myself  finishing in the top 20. Karl Taylor, Ryan Bankhead and Connor Young came in at the back of the bunch. Ryan rode well in what was his first race of the season.”
Breandan McCavana took part in the under 16 youth race and finished a creditable eleventh.
