The cyclists on Saturday’s sixth ride in this season’s Ballymena Road Club - Chain Reaction Cycles -fun tour series again enjoyed the best weather conditions of the week.

The dry but cool morning attracted 69 riders for the event and they headed out in three big groups.

The "A” group, which had 27 riders, left at the slightly earlier time of 9.15am and they completed a 63 miles route at 19mph. Their circuit took in Larne, Glenarm, Carnlough and Waterfoot before climbing Glenariff.

The 28 in the touring group rode to Slaght, Magheralane, Randalstown and then visited the holy well at Cranfield. Next it was on to Toomebridge, Bellaghy, Mayogall, Portglenone and the now obligatory climb up Tully and in through Ahoghill and Galgorm. Their average was 15mph.

A third group of a dozen riders completed a 61 miles ride to Ballymoney, Coleraine and Kilrea at 18.2mph.

£15 was donated to the Chernobyl Children’s appeal which makes the total now £860.

Another seventeen riders completed their fifth tour on Saturday to earn their bronze medals. The successful participants on Saturday were: Adrian Archibald, Jim Burns, Sammy Connor, Bobby Currie, Michael Diamond, Tom Douds, Clifford, Iris and Ronnie Grant, Sammy Kerr, John McAllister, Pius McKernan, Alastair Petticrew, Davy Rankin, Martin Ruddy, Andrew Wills and Wilnor Worthington.

Fun tours continue.

Ride seven in the 13 week fun tour series will take place this Saturday morning from Rex Bonar House at 9.30 am. The "A” group will continue to leave at the slightly earlier time of 9.15am.
