Under 16 Racing

Monday, June 10, 2013
BRC’s George Graham took part in the under 16 event at Sunday’s Noel Teggart memorial at Banbridge.
The U16’s had three laps of the hard course to complete and by the time the riders had climbed the last long drag into the finish outside Banbridge the course had done its job and split the field. Breaking away early on in the race were Ryan Orr of Ballymoney and Aaron Swan, from Clough, of TSC Racing. These two worked together and steadily increased their lead over the chasers who by the second lap were well split up. At the line it was Orr who had the extra energy in the legs to take the win followed shortly by Swan. Newry’s Cathal Clarke took third spot ahead of George Graham (Ballymena Chain Reaction)
This event was a qualifying round for the Sainsbury’s schools’ games and George Graham has been invited to take part in another qualifying event on 23rd June. George said "I was happy enough to win the bunch sprint for fourth place although I had hoped for a higher placing, but my result has helped me in my efforts to be selected for the NI team for the Sainsbury UK games. I’m starting track training at Orangefield on Thursdays which I hope will also help me to improve. I hope to go well in the next qualifier and make the team” added George.
