On Sunday 9th September. Ballymena Road Club’s touring section held their final "away for the day” tour when their annual "Last Resort” tour of the harbours took place from Ballymoney.

The event started from "the duck pond” at the riverside park in Ballymoney from where the 24 strong group of cyclists completed a ride to Balnamore, Loughan, Mountsandel, Coleraine, Portstewart and Portrush. Then the group headed to Portballintrae, Bushmills, Dunseverick, Port Braddan, Ballintoy and Ballycastle.

The return trip back to Ballymoney was into a tough headwind and took in the dry arch, Mosside and Dervock.

The "official” harbours tour was 59 miles long, for those who started and finished in Ballymoney, while for half a dozen others, who had ridden to and from Ballymena, the overall effort came to 90 miles. Well done to one and all.

Michelin off to Mullingar.

Seven members of the Michelin "Team Bibsport” cycling club travelled to Mullingar last weekend to take part in the 200 miles "Into the West” cycle challenge which raises funds for breast cancer. The Michelin cyclists presented a £2000 cheque to the organisers. This money included £350 which was raised when Peter Tweed and his staff at the Smithfield Arms held a table quiz recently. Many thanks to Peter from all at Team Bibsport.
