Nine Glens Tour

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Ballymena Road Club’s touring section members completed their nine glens challenge 70 miles event on Sunday. The conditions were far from perfect with a less than favourable wind and heavy showers slowing the group’s progress.

Twenty three signed on at Glenarm of whom eleven completed the full route. The BRC riders were joined by five cyclists from the recently formed "Glens” cycling club and their support was appreciated.

The entry fee donations will go to the Chernobyl Children’s appeal NI. Many thanks to Pius McKernan for providing the back up support and also to Marbeth Rodgers who assisted Pius with the Cushendun catering stop. Everyone was most appreciative of the refreshments at lunch time.

Silvercliffs caravan park in Ballycastle provided the changing and shower facilities and again this was much appreciated by all the riders after such a tough event.
