There were couple of changes to last Wednesday evening’s Tommy Talbot cup, Grand Prix of the Glens time trial which is part of the Ballymena Road Club, Northstone sponsored, club race series. A band parade in Broughshane meant that the race couldn’t start at the Ecos roundabout and traffic lights on the coast road at Garron point meant a diversion up the hill and past Garron Tower.
There was an entry of nineteen riders, for the 40 miles event, including three ladies, and they enjoyed reasonable weather conditions, considering what it has been like recently, as they set off from the three trees at Broughshane.
Matthew Brennan second on 1 hour 37 minutes 26 seconds. Tommy Wilson just got the better of Ryan Currie. His 1 hour 39 minutes 18 seconds was a mere 7 seconds faster than Currie’s 1.39.25. Other results were: (5) Connor Young 1.45.16 (6) Derek Dougan 1.46.31 (7) Nigel Kernohan 1.47.36 (8) Adrian Kerr 1.49.08 (9) Peter Smyth 1.51.43 (10) Karl Taylor 1.58.08 (11) Claire Gillespie 2.02.23 (12) Tom Douds 2.02.57 (13) Stephen Smyth 2.04.19 (14) Maeve Savage 2.04.49 (15) Emma Smyth 2.04.55 (16) David Kennedy 2.07.49.
