Matthew finishes 3rd in Spires Trilogy Event.

The third and final Spires Trilogy TimeTrial took place on the Toome course last Thursday night. Ballymena Road Club’s Matthew Brennan, who had finished second in the previous round, with a time of 21 minutes 48 seconds, was amongst the 31 entrants and he was hoping to secure a top overall placing in the series.

David McCann set a very fast time of 20 minutes 55 seconds in the windy conditions. The Irish Olympian was over two minutes faster than second placed David Heagney of East Tyrone CC who clocked 22:58. Third place went to Roe Valley’s James Mullan with a time of 23.04. Matthew was fourth with 23 minutes 10 seconds.

James Mullan’s recent good form gave him the overall win in the three race series, with Martin Tohill in overall second place and Matthew Brennan third.
