Chris @ Robert Millar Sportive.

Ballymena Road Club rider Chris Beattie was in Glasgow on May 27th for the first edition of The Robert Millar Sportive promoted by Glasgow Wheelers. The 95 mile event started in Kirkintilloch and covered some of the Scottish roads that helped to develop Robert into the world famous professional cyclist that he became including the renowned Tak me Doon Road (Kilsyth to Lennoxtown), arguably the most demanding climb in central Scotland and the notorious Crow Road.
Chris started in group one and broke away on the day's first climb with Edinburgh rider Drew Sharkey of Bicycleworks where the two forged ahead in the scorching temperature through some of Scotland's finest scenery. Drew was eventually dropped on the penultimate climb by Chris leaving a solo ride to the finish to come home in 1st place with the day's fastest time.

Chris would highly recommend other club riders to put this Sportive in their calendar next season (47 mile route option). Having Loch Katrine in the Trossachs and the Campsie Fells on route it is a truly stunning ride!
