BRC Club Runs resume this weekend!

Saturday, April 17, 2021
Ballymena Road Club – McCool’s are delighted to announce that club training runs will soon commence again, from this Saturday 17th April - in line with Cycling Ireland and Cycling Ulster Official guidelines - starting with Saturday and Sunday training rides.

New guidelines state that ‘From 12 April, up to 15 people (including coaches) can take part in structured outdoor sports training, through clubs affiliated to recognised sports governing bodies.’ As a club our understanding of this is that privately organised training runs of up to 15 people are not permitted, however training runs organised through an affiliated club are permitted.

Before participating in each club training run, all members MUST complete the following steps:

 1. Complete the CI online learning course (once) LINK:
https://www.sportireland.ie/covid19/course

 2. Before each ride take a self assessment (1 minute) LINK:

 3. To help contact tracing, book your ride (SATURDAY/ SUNDAY) in advance - this can be done a week in advance (1 minute) LINK:
https://membership.cyclingireland.ie/reservation.html

Personal hygiene and social distancing will apply pre/during/post ride.

On arrival all participants will be required to sign in and acknowledge that they have completed the above 3 steps, before they can take part. Cycling UK & British Cycling members should complete Sections 1 & 2 (above) but will be unable to complete Section 3. As a result they will be required to provide further contact details before taking part. Only riders who have completed these steps will be permitted to take part.

On both Saturdays and Sundays club runs will leave Rex Bonar House on Railway Street at the following times:

9am – ‘A’ Run (19+ MPH)

 9.15am – ‘B’ Run (17 – 18 MPH)

9.30am – ‘C’ Run (Touring) (16-17 MPH)

 • All groups will be strictly limited to 15 riders maximum, however to facilitate larger numbers, each run may consist of more than one group, as long as adequate numbers of group leaders are available/present.

• BRC Full and Associate members will only be permitted to participate. All participants must have taken out 2021 CI/CUK/BC membership.

 • Riders for each run should arrive as close to departure time as possible to prevent large numbers from gathering in the Club Yard.

• Riders on the ‘A’ Run should not wait for the ‘B’ run if low numbers turn up for their run.

The Club has appointed ‘Co-ordinators’ for each club run as follows. Those wishing to participate should contact their respective Co-ordinator by text message asap. Co-ordinators will then set up respective WhatsApp Groups to enable riders to confirm attendance prior to the run, so that numbers can be anticipated and adequate numbers of leaders organised. This should be done by the night before at the latest.

 ‘A’ Run - Philip Morrison (07799 718910)

‘B’ Run - Alastair Petticrew (07890 212409)

‘C’ Run - Paul Murdoch (07725 368390)

Planned routes will be shared for each run on the evening before. If you are prepared to be called on as a group leader please contact the appropriate Group Co-ordinator asap.
