New NI COVID Restrictions

25 December 2020

New restrictions have been agreed by the Northern Ireland Executive to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 within the community. The restrictions will come into force on Saturday 26th December and remain in place for 6 weeks. The implications for cycling clubs, members and activities are set out below.

26 December to 2 January

The single most important action you can take to fight coronavirus and to save lives is to stay at home.

From 8.00pm to 6.00am there can be no indoor or outdoor gatherings of any kind.

Outdoor exercise is only permitted with members of your own household.

No sporting events at any level, either indoors or outdoors, can be held between 26 December and 2 January.

Restrictions from 26 December onwards

As well as the restrictions above which will be in place from 26 December to 2 January, the following measures below will also be in place from 26 December for six weeks.

Training, Club & Group Training

Only individual or household exercise is permitted. (There is an exemption for professional and elite sports).

 Events

Elite competition can continue but must be behind closed doors.

Travel

You should avoid all unnecessary travel.

Everyone is asked to be mindful of the risks of spreading the virus by travel and should use their judgement when deciding whether or not to undertake a journey based on the individual circumstances.

These restrictions will be kept under review by the NI Executive and we will endeavour to issue guidance on what activity can take place from then as early as possible. Any changes due to further updates from the NI Executive or Sport NI will be communicated as soon as possible.
