COVID-19 Update for BRC members

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Following Club Committee discussions this evening, BRC officials have the following update for members. Despite recent guidance from Cycling Ireland/Cycling Ulster permitting club activity to recommence, serious concerns still remain around the resumption of club training runs. BRC training runs are very popular at this time of year, and as a result club officials feel that restarting club runs would present huge challenges in our ability to enforce and monitor social distancing both in and around the clubrooms at the start of runs, and during the runs themselves. As a result we have decided not to resume club training runs as originally planned. We will review the situation on a fortnightly basis, as and when new guidelines and updates are released from CI/CU.

We want to take this opportunity to thank members for their patience in this matter.

Training runs, (which are not officially sanctioned club events) continue to be organised by individuals, within current legislation. Please ensure that social distancing rules are applied at all times if training with others. The next phase of guidance is due for release on 17 July, so we will keep you updated with any changes.
