Sammy wins Sammy Connor Cup

Tonight saw 38 riders set off around 3 laps (33miles) of the Sheddings circuit to contest the Sammy Connor Cup. This annual scratch race always attracts a large entry from BRC and beyond. The race stayed together for the most part, although BRC's Paul McQuillan and BVRC's Dermot O'Kane did establish a 2 man break at one point, staying away for over a lap. Three riders (Ed Kearney - Phoenix CC, Dermot O'Kane - BVRC and Gerard McNally - BVRC) eventually broke clear , establishing a clear lead from the main bunch, and stayed clear until the line, with Kearney taking a clear win in the sprint. BRC's Sammy Foster (7th) lifts the Sammy Connor Cup as the first BRC rider home.
