Eddie completes first Ironman!

Tuesday, September 11, 2018
On Sunday morning at 7am BRC club member Eddie Hampton crossed the start line of Ironman Wales. Ahead was a 3800m sea swim, 112 miles on the bike and the small matter of a marathon to complete.
Ed entered the water with 2400 hardy souls and after almost 4K of sea swim and jellyfish avoidance he emerged in a fantastic time of 1hr 15 mins.

The bike at IM Wales is known for its sheer brutality. One of the hardest in World Ironman it totals almost 8000ft of climbing around gnarly coastal roads. Followed up by a marathon around the streets of Tenby adding another 1200ft, Eddie completed the IM in a time of 14hrs and 7 mins to join Mickey Carroll in BRC’s very exclusive group of Ironmen!!
Well done Ed!!!

Eddie would like to thank BRC for enabling him to participate in a full season of club racing, which helped him immensely with his biking.
