Good start for BRC at Spires CC event!

Saturday, March 10, 2018

Inspired Cycling rider Conor McCann has made a winning start to the new season in Ulster. He was best in the Spires GP, promoted by Spires Cycling Club in Ballyronan.

And at the end of the A4 contest Mark Farquhar (East Tyrone CC) was out on his own to win. BRC rider Ryan Beech finished second for a very bright start to his season. Paul McQuillan was involved in a crash approaching the finish, however escaped with minor cuts and bruises. We wish him a speedy recovery. In very wet conditions there was a good showing from Ballymena Road Club, with 9 riders taking part in the Ladies, A4 and A3 events.

In the main event a breakaway would win the day; Conor McCann proving too string for those he was with in the final kick to the finish line.

He got the better of Team Madigan’s Richard Maybin and last year’s victor Craig McAuley (Caldwell Omagh).

Also showing some very good early season form and making the escape were Lyndsay Watson (Power House Sport) and  Dominic McCartan (Apollo CC). They finished 4th and 5th respectively.
