Gerard wins Will Henry Cup!

Will Henry Cup

Last night 24 riders signed on to compete over 4 laps of the 5 mile Glaryford circuit. With weather conditions polar opposite to the previous stormy weather of Tuesday night there was a good field of riders, which made for some great racing; as well as the trophy being awarded to the first rider over the line, regardless of club.

The riders were split into 3 groups, with the first 2 groups given a handicapped start to the chasing scratch group. 

The front group of only 2 BRC riders, Joanne Lowry and Janine Gordon held off the chasing groups for nearly 15 miles, showing their improving form and strength as the 2017 has progressed!

The scratch group went hard from the gun leading to this group spliting at the start of the second lap as the relentless pace took its tole on the climb to Millar's Connor.

On the third lap scratch caught up with the second group, on the unforgiving climb once again. The pace continued to be high, with many attacks coming from Mark Glendinning of Spires CC and Tommy Wilson of BRC. 4 Riders, Glendinning, McNally (BVRC), Wilson (BRC) and Burns (BRC) broke from the group and got up the road. 

It was power house Gerard McNally (BVRC) that took the sprint winning the Will Henry Trophy from the breakaway bunch!

This is the last road race of the BRC 2017 Race Calender. Thank you to all organisors, marshals, volunteers and riders!

Still to come is a 10TT on Wednesday 30th August (New a26), 5TT Wednesday 6th September, Sherdan Caldwell Memorial Hill Climb including the 'Two Hills Challenge' on Friday 8th September.
