LUKE WINS BRC 3 DAY EVENT
Ballymena Road Club’s 3 day took place last Monday-Wednesday.
Monday’s event took place in Randalstown with a short, but fast 20 mile road race. Richard Reid came out on top, taking the win from Tommy Wilson, and Luke McMullan in 3rd.

Tuesday then saw the riders move to the new Frosses Road (A26) for a 5 mile TT. This was the first time this course had been used for a Time Trial event, so riders were keen to find out how fast they would fare. The in form Eileen Burns posted the fastest time with a very fast 10mins 3secs, excellent preparation for her European Championship Time Trial event this week.

The event concluded on Wednesday night with a final road race on the Glarryford circuit. On a very dull and wet evening, a small field of riders participated on 4 laps of the course. During the handicapped event a group of 4 riders, including the main contenders for the overall prize, broke clear from the scratch group, bridging the gap to the other 2 groups on the last lap to contest a hard fought sprint for the finish. Luke McMullan took the win on the night, as well as the 3 day event win overall.
