The cyclists on Saturday’s Ballymena Road Club – Chain Reaction Cycles – fun tours had perfect weather for their sixth outing in the series.
82 riders assembled at Rex Bonar house and they headed out in three groups with all the bunches making the most of the weather to take in routes to the north coast.
The touring section completed a 40 miles ride which took in Broughshane, Buckna, Kilnacoolpagh, Glenarm and Carnlough before climbing Glencloy and heading back home through the Braid and Broughshane.
The "B” group completed a 55 miles ride to Broughshane, Carnalbanagh, Glenarm, Carnlough and round the coast to Waterfoot.
Then it was up Glenariffe’s six miles climb and back to town through Cargan, Martinstown and Rathkenny.
The "A” group had the furthest and fastest tour as they completed a 63 miles ride at 19.6 mph. Their route was to Larne then Ballygally, Glenarm, Carnlough and Waterfoot and home via Glenariffe glen.
Another £55 was donated to the charity fund on Saturday and this now stands at a total of £785.
Saturday was ride six in the series and another nineteen riders earned bronze their medals.
The successful riders were: Bronze (for five tours) Geoff Allen, Alex Bonar, Jim Burns, Ryan Currie, Jane Deering, Sarah Elliott, Iris Grant, Ronnie Grant, William Jackson, Bert Kernohan, Stephen Little, Patsy McGurk, Beresford Millar, Francis O’Kane, David Rankin, Maria Shannon, Peter Simpson, Peter Smyth and Andrew Wills.
