Tour of the Glens 200km & 100km Sportive - Sunday 30th August 2015

Saturday, July 25, 2015

Entry for the Tour of the Glens organised by Castlereagh Cycling Club, is now available via http://www.entrycentral.com/touroftheglens.

The Tour Of the Glens is one of the toughest events on the Cycling Ireland calendar and incorporates many tough climbs through the beautiful Antrim Glens.  The event has long been a must do for local cycling enthusiasts and with the Giro D'Italia having passed along parts of the route last year, we are hopeful of a big turnout of cyclists to take on the roads the Giro missed through the scenic Glens of Antrim.  Early online entry fee is £25, with on the day entries at £30 dependant on allocated entries not being filled.  Start and finish is at the Loughshore Recreation Centre on the Shore Road, Belfast from 7am on the morning of the event.

The 100km event also available for those who feel they are not quite up to the full 200km event yet.   Early online entry £15 and £20 on the day.  This starts and finishes in Cushendall Sailing Club and proceeds down the coast to Glenarm to join the full event and start the climb towards Ballymena.

The main food stop will be back at Cushendall Sailing Club after completion of the 'Glendun Loop' (approx. 140km) when again tea/coffee along with sandwiches, cakes and biscuits will be served.  There will also be tea/coffee and sandwiches at the finish where you won't have to worry about not eating too much!!!!  Once again this year all finishers will receive a unique Tour of the Glens medal and for the first 150 entrants a "Tour of the Glens" microfibre cycling cap.
