CALLING ALL YOUTHS.

Monday, June 22, 2015
Ballymena Road Club are pleased to announce the launch of their first Youth Open Day THIS Saturday, June 27th between 10am and 1pm at the Ballymena Showgrounds (main arena). The event is designed to primarily encourage more young people (at least 12 years of age) into cycling and to join our cycling club.

The emphasis will be on FUN for everyone with lots of activities planned:
- learn about the different types of cycling.
- Basic bike handling skills
- how to ride in groups safely around the track
- timed laps of the track (time trial)

BRC volunteers will be on hand to answer all your questions and ensure that you have a fun and enjoyable time.

If you wish to take part in the event, a parent or guardian must get in contact via email (brcyouth@hotmail.com). You can also get in contact via phone/text on 07855 529 742 (after 6pm).

Some Basic Information
Leo McCavana is the organiser and he says "Since we want to encourage more young people into the great sport of cycling, we are running this as a 'free' event. That's right; it won't cost your parents/guardians anything! This isn't a 'race' - as we said, the emphasis will be on fun and enjoyment. You don't need a 'race' bike to take part - anything like a BMX or Mountain Bike will be fine, so long as it is good working order and you can ride it comfortably. If you have a 'race' bike well that's ok too.
A helmet will be compulsory. Other than that, come dressed for the day. We obviously hope the weather will be nice, but please bring a rain jacket just in case.                                                                                                             Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to accompany their children and come along and watch. If they have any questions about cycling, we'll do our best to answer them. Please bring something to drink and eat. First Aid will be available from a BRC volunteer
