Ballymena RC launched this year’s Billy Kerr sportive at Montgomery’s restaurant last Monday night. The event’s charity partner this year is the NI based "Cancer fund for Children” who issued the following press release.
"Never mind the Giro, the cycling event to look out for this summer is the Billy Kerr Sportive on Saturday 15h August in aid of local charity Cancer Fund for Children.
The three distance sportive event is in memory of the legendary Ballymena Road Club road racer Billy Kerr.
The three routes – 67km, 115km and 150km are suitable for every type of cyclist and will take in the spectacular scenery around the north Antrim Coast.
The Sportive kicks off between 8am and 9am from Eaton Park on Ballymena’s Raceview Road. Food and refreshments will be provided along the route and at the starting and end locations.
Cancer Fund for Children’s Ana Wilkinson thanked the Ballymena Road Club for choosing Northern Ireland’s leading children’s cancer charity to benefit.
"This is such an exciting event and I hope many people sign up and come out to watch the participants. Money raised will help us continue to support local families whose lives are devastated by cancer.”
